This ointment contains Tacrolimus, a topical calcineurin inhibitor indicated for moderate to severe atopic dermatitis. It works by suppressing the immune response in the skin, thereby reducing inflammation, redness, and itching.
Unlike topical corticosteroids, Tacrolimus does not cause skin atrophy, making it suitable for long-term use and application on sensitive areas such as the face, neck, and skin folds. It helps restore the skin barrier and provides sustained relief from eczema symptoms.

Mechanism

Tacrolimus
Inhibits calcineurin, thereby blocking T-cell activation and the release of inflammatory cytokines. This reduces skin inflammation, itching, and immune-mediated skin reactions.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to Tacrolimus or any component
Active skin infections (bacterial, viral, or fungal)
Immunocompromised patients (use with caution)

Dosage

Apply a thin layer to the affected area twice daily or as directed by the physician.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

Avoid concurrent use with other topical immunosuppressants
Alcohol may cause flushing or irritation at application site
Systemic immunosuppressants: May increase overall immunosuppression
